It is my passion to support and empower young children in their learning journey and value the partnership with their families and whanau. I’m also passionate about literacy development and play based learning. I am a mother to 3 wonderful children who has taught me the importance of providing a nurturing, loving environment and its role in a child’s development. I feel honoured to work alongside the excellent team here at the Learning Corner who has been like a family to me.

Shamsi – Fully Qualified Teacher

Assalamualikum! New Zealand has been my home for 21 years. I have a Bachelors and Masters in Social Science and Education. My passion is to teach young children so I pursued my Diploma in Teaching in Early Childhood when I came here. I love to sing songs with children and believe that through music a child can develop holistically. I am pleased to work at the Learning Corner and I have been working for 12 years and enjoy being a Kaiako in the babies’ room. I believe that it is important to provide a loving, caring and nurturing learning environment starting from the early years to help tamariki develop into their full potential.

Clara – Fully Qualified Teacher

Kia Ora! I am an enthusiastic, inspiring, highly motivated and a qualified teacher. I have teaching experiences among students of different age groups, and as a result, I am a patient teacher with a gentle sense of humour, who remains sensitive to students’ unique needs, provides individual and whole group support and guided by intercultural awareness, offers positive encouragement and reinforcement to keep students focused and motivated.

I come from India where I taught children with special needs specialising in teaching the blind children from age 6 months to 12 years. My experience as a special educator in the early intervention department has made me enthusiastic about being an early childhood teacher to understand the milestones in a child’s early years of development. Above all, I got ensured I could assist in creation of a safe environment in which children feel secure and parents can be certain that their children are in good hands. So, I pretty much decided to specialize in early childhood to be able to take care of the young ones.
In my previous day-care centre, I was responsible for the transition to school programme, and I hope I can use my strengths and skills as I become a part of The Learning Corner Mount Albert team a place where children can play and learn in a safe environment.

Meena – Teacher

Namaste, I have been living in Auckland NZ for 16 years and can confidently say it is my home away from my native home back in India. I have done master’s in economics and hold a degree in Bachelors of Education too. With 3 years overseas experience in teaching in Senior Secondary School I have been given an opportunity to teach younger children at the Learning corner ELC and have been part of the centre for 5 years now. Teaching is my passion and I love being with kids. I give my best to teach, play and care the young ones in their tender early childhood days so that they become confident learners. I believe when children step away from home and start their early education, it is important to provide them with a welcoming and positive ambience so that they are confident to play, enjoy and learn to their full potential. I believe that the Learning corner ECE centre has all these opportunities, and it is great to work with such a wonderful team.
