Our lovely childcare centre is located in Mount Albert, Auckland and is close to UNITEC, Gladstone Primary, Owairaka Primary, Mt Albert Primary and Mt Albert Train Station.
At the Learning Corner Childcare/Day Care Centre we constantly strive to make your child’s experience with us some of the best years of their life. That means, supporting them so they feel cared for, and are nourished, physically, socially, intellectually and emotionally. It’s a whole package. We’re a family owned company so that means your child is more than just a number to us. We like to take the time to get know not just your child but you as well if you have time to chat.
We provide 20 ECE hours subsidy for over 3 year old as well as WINZ support for all ages.
Our Philosophy
At The Learning Corner Early Learning Centre we believe in creating a warm and welcoming environment for our Tamariki and their whānau to be a part of vibrant, secure setting. Parent participation is welcomed in developing their child’s individual learning plan with Kaiako. Honouring the Maori culture of whanauangatanga we actively engage with parents, whānau and the community wherein our tamariki belong.
In line with Te Whāriki our qualified and caring Kaiako ensure that they acknowledge our Tamariki as unique individuals bringing their own mana (identity and strength) with them at the beginning of their learning journey with us. Kaiako aspire to support the emotional and social needs of our tamariki by empowering them to build on their confidence, self-esteem and sense of belonging.
We endeavour to maintain a fun, interactive environment where every event, activity, routine and interaction is seen as an opportunity for learning. Kaiako aspire to provide an environment where the tamariki are encouraged to explore and learn about the world around them.
At The Learning Corner Early Learning Centre, we integrate a bicultural perspective, giving children an opportunity to develop their knowledge and understanding of the heritages of both partners of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We respect diversity and encourage each child to celebrate their cultural heritage at our centre.
Te Whāriki is the foundation of program planning. Any decisions made about programme plans are based on meeting Tamariki’s needs as acknowledged in the Te Whāriki document. We view the Code of Ethics, Social competence, Te Whāriki and Tapasa as living documents within the Centre.
Our Curriculum
The Learning Corner early learning centre Mount Albert prides itself on the strong links with the local schools. Our teachers spend time at the local schools (Gladstone Rd Primary, Owairaka Primary and Mt Albert Primary) taking time to speak to the teachers to ensure our curriculum supports children in a successful transition to school. This sets the children up for future academic success. Children are exposed to a wide variety of experiences and learning opportunities through play.

Research and Development
Research & Development – Management make it a point of keeping up to date with latest developments in the early childhood industry. All relevant information is passed onto the teachers and new initiatives are implemented where appropriate. Professional development is also key to ensuring our teachers are valued, empowered and kept up to date with latest trends and skills.
Supportive Culture
Supportive culture – with a family atmosphere amongst professional staff. Management have worked hard to ensure a supportive team both between staff and management but also amongst the staff themselves. Many of our staff of our day care/childcare centre are mothers themselves. They all understand the balance between home and work life so they all provide support and encouragement among themselves. All our staff take an active interest in each others families.

We aim to guide the children’s behaviour in a way that allows the children (babies, toddlers and pre schoolers) to make appropriate choices and feel confident and valued.
Meals
At The Learning Corner Early Learning Centre we are committed to developing your child to their fullest potential. This is reflected in our healthy and nutritious meals, that are cooked by our on site cook who is qualified in food hygiene and safety. Your child will receive their 5+ a day of fruit and vegetables whilst at our day care/ Child care Mount Albert Auckland and the toddlers and preschoolers are also given a dental hygiene snack during their day. All meals served are vegetarian and adjustments can be made for any children with food allergies. All menus have been checked by a dietician to ensure all children are receiving two thirds of their daily nutritional needs.
